Right then – Operation Corkscrew, June 1943. No fanfare, no parade – just several thousand tons of bombs landing squarely on Pantelleria, the so-called “Gibraltar of the Central Med.” The Italians said it was impregnable. The RAF and Royal Navy said, “Hold my tea.” After weeks of bombardment, the garrison gave up without a proper fight – probably because the island was more crater than coastline by the end of it.

This t-shirt salutes that explosive success, with a tidy full-colour Operation Corkscrew insignia sitting left breast – smart, sharp, and just a little bit smug. For the ones who appreciate quiet brilliance, and overwhelming force with surgical timing.

• 100% combed and ring-spun cotton – soft as Sicilian sand, tough as a Lancaster’s bomb load
• Heather Prism Lilac & Heather Prism Natural: 99% cotton, 1% polyester – like the Allies: mostly pure, with a bit of extra punch
• Athletic Heather: 90% cotton, 10% polyester – mission-capable and ready for heat
• Other Heather colours: 52% cotton, 48% polyester – strong enough to level a fortified island (well, almost)
• Fabric weight: 4.2 oz/y² (142 g/m²) – light on your back, heavy with history
• Relaxed fit – ideal for air raids, barbecues, or briefing Monty
• Pre-shrunk – doesn’t collapse under pressure, unlike certain Italian strongholds
• Side-seamed construction – sharp lines, tighter than Allied naval cordons
• Crew neck – clean and regulation-ready
• Blank sourced from Nicaragua, Honduras, or the US – supply chain better managed than Axis island defences

Operation Corkscrew was the warm-up act for Sicily – a clean sweep that proved you didn’t always need to land boots when you had bombs, boats, and bravado. Wear this and nod knowingly – you’re the sort who understands how to uncork a fortified island the right way.

A Bit About the T-Shirt (And Why You Should Check Your Size!)

Al Murray: Now, let’s talk about the T-shirt itself—this isn’t some cheap knockoff; it’s print-on-demand, which means no wasted stock sitting in a warehouse somewhere gathering dust. Instead, every shirt is printed just for you, which is a win for both history lovers and the planet.

James Holland: Absolutely. But, and this is important—check your size before you order. We don’t want loads of returns bouncing around, adding to unnecessary emissions. Pick the right fit, wear it with pride, and show the world you know your history.

This product is made especially for you as soon as you place an order, which is why it takes us a bit longer to deliver it to you. Making products on demand instead of in bulk helps reduce overproduction, so thank you for making thoughtful purchasing decisions!
