Right, pay attention – this one’s for the madly brave and the brutally bold. Operation Tidal Wave, 1st August 1943 – the USAAF’s attempt to take out Hitler’s biggest oil supply at Ploiești, Romania. Five bomb groups, flying low and straight into flak so thick it looked like you could walk on it. The cost was staggering. The courage? Off the scale.

This tee pays tribute to that extraordinary act of gallows-defying gallantry with a crisp full-colour Operation Tidal Wave insignia, left breast. Subtle? Yes. But it packs the punch of a B-24 Liberator screaming through a refinery complex at rooftop height.

• 100% combed and ring-spun cotton – softer than a Romanian wheat field, tougher than the flak over Ploiești
• Heather Prism Lilac & Heather Prism Natural: 99% cotton, 1% polyester – light blend for hot missions
• Athletic Heather: 90% cotton, 10% polyester – holds together under stress (just like the formation)
• Other Heather colours: 52% cotton, 48% polyester – mission-ready, impact-resistant
• Fabric weight: 4.2 oz/y² (142 g/m²) – featherweight for heavy-lift history
• Relaxed fit – allows maximum movement when you’re dodging metaphorical flak
• Pre-shrunk – unlike half the tail sections after the raid
• Side-seamed construction – stitched with the precision of a Norden bombsight
• Crew neck – reliable as a top turret gunner
• Blank sourced from Nicaragua, Honduras, or the US – supplied with all the strategic know-how of a Bomber Group quartermaster

This was no routine op – it was one of the costliest missions of the war, and those who flew it did so knowing full well what they were flying into. This shirt is for those who admire courage, commitment, and a touch of madness.

A Bit About the T-Shirt (And Why You Should Check Your Size!)

Al Murray: Now, let’s talk about the T-shirt itself—this isn’t some cheap knockoff; it’s print-on-demand, which means no wasted stock sitting in a warehouse somewhere gathering dust. Instead, every shirt is printed just for you, which is a win for both history lovers and the planet.

James Holland: Absolutely. But, and this is important—check your size before you order. We don’t want loads of returns bouncing around, adding to unnecessary emissions. Pick the right fit, wear it with pride, and show the world you know your history.

This product is made especially for you as soon as you place an order, which is why it takes us a bit longer to deliver it to you. Making products on demand instead of in bulk helps reduce overproduction, so thank you for making thoughtful purchasing decisions!
